OUR COMMUNITY IMPACT

Our vision – Improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and the community in safe and accessible places.

More Than a Place, a Purpose

For the past 150 years the YMCA of Springfield has been dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected children, adults, families, and communities. We continue that work with the help of people like you.

Strong Kids Fund

We help build a stronger community through our Strong Kids initiative. The YMCA Strong Kids Fund gives underserved, at-risk youth and those with diverse abilities a Y experience through memberships, camps, sports, and after-school programs.

Sports & Camps – Teamwork, Competition, Social & Emotional Learning

Kids succeed with acceptance, encouragement, and socialization with friends. With your generosity, the YMCA provides safe, fun, and encouraging opportunities to enjoy sports, be part of a team,  meet new friends, and explore new ideas at summer camp.

Financial Assistance – Belonging & Well Being

A basic need for everyone is a sense of community and belonging. Make a gift and support the YMCA’s goal of ensuring anyone in our community can experience the Y regardless of their income.

Supporting those with Diverse Abilities

Here at the YMCA, we believe people with diverse abilities should have equal access to activities like sports.  We offer two adaptive programs designed to make EVERYONE feel included.  Our Saturday Strikers Bowling program offers physical exercise, team building, and self-confidence. Each year our players compete in the Special Olympics bowling. Our Special Needs Aquatic Program (SNAP) provides swimming lessons to those with mental or physical diverse abilities. SNAP gives people with special needs the opportunity to learn how to swim at their own pace. We also have a competitive swim team, the Snapping Turtles, to give swimmers the skills to compete in the Special Olympics.

SK Events

At the Y, we think fun and fundraisers go together. Join us for one of our fundraisers and help us raise money for the Strong Kids Fund which helps give kids and those with diverse abilities in our community access to Y programs and activities.
