YMCA Swim Lessons
Swimming is a life-saving skill that should be accessible to all.
Parent-Child Classes 6 months – 3 yrs
Infants and toddlers (accompanied by a parent) learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence- building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.
Swim Basics Ages 3 – 12 yrs
Students will learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning important water safety skills. Introduction and mastery of freestyle and backstroke will be a focus.
- Water Acclimation (Ages 2-10)
This class is designed to increase the level of comfort and confidence with swimming underwater. - Water Movement (Ages 3-10)
Swimmers who are comfortable in the water but cannot swim independently should take this class. - Water Stamina (Ages 5-10)
A perfect class for kids who can swim independently but need to work on stroke perfection.
Jr. High Ages 11 – 14
This instructor-led class (only offered Downtown) will help swimmers with increased comfort levels and independence in and around the pool. This class is ideal for people who can swim all four strokes or are comfortable in the water but not swimming independently or submerging completely.
Jr. SPY Ages 6 – 12
This class gives swimmers an idea of what it would be like to swim for SPY. Jr. SPY is for swimmers who are becoming or are proficient in all four strokes and interested in eventually swimming competitively but not quite ready for a full commitment of a year-round team experience. Jr. SPY swimmers who are members can also participate in home meets.
