STRIDE – Boys Character Development & Running

STRIDE Boys Character Education & Running Program

Success, Teamwork, Respect, Inspiration, Determination = Excellence in character. Stride is similar to the well-known girls running program. Open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade boys, this afterschool activity meets twice per week for 10 weeks. Each session focuses on a different topic like bullying or sportsmanship using open discussion, games and running exercises to teach real-life lessons. The boys finish their season with a 5K run with the girls’ group.

What is STRIDE?

STRIDE is a fun character development and running activity for boys in grades 3-5. STRIDE has a Spring and Fall 10-week season that meets twice a week after school. Boys in STRIDE have the chance to share their thoughts and opinions about various life topics in a safe and encouraging environment that helps them develop character while building running endurance to compete in a 5k.

STRIDE Curriculum

During the ten weeks, the curriculum covers topics designed to help develop excellent character. The boys are encouraged to talk openly with each other and their coaches about issues they face in school, at sports, in the community, and at home. STRIDE boys complete a community service project and finish with a 5K run.

STRIDE 5K RUN

Through the 10-week STRIDE Session, BOYS train to run a 5K race. They learn proper form, nutrition, and conditioning to complete the run well, and at their own pace. Family & Fiends are welcome to sign-up and run the 5K with the boys.
