Summer Camp: Where Kids Can Be Kids

At the YMCAs Summer Day Camps in Springfield, illinois, kids will develop new skills, explore new ideas, and build new friendships. Interactive summer activities include STEM, swimming, field trips, sports, canoeing, and more.

Kids 1st-4th grade get to enjoy the outdoors at Camp Wa-Kon-Tah, a traditional summer camp in the woods on a lake. Campers will participate in archery, canoeing, fishing, hiking, swimming, field trips, sports, and much more. Camp Wa-Kon-Tah is located on Lake Springfield near Chatham and is a full-day camp that runs from 7:00am- 6:00pm Monday- Friday.

Specialty Camps

Specialty Camps are new for 2025 at both YMCA branches. These camps are for kids entering 1st-4th grades and are designed to be progressive, week-long camps that focus on a featured interest. This lets campers fully explore the topic, improve skill sets, and create awesome projects. Campers will also swim Monday-Friday with certified lifeguards.

Gymnastics Camp

Campers will tumble & flip their way through weeks of camp on our beautiful gymnastics center. Gymnastics camp is located at the Downtown Y and is from 9am- 4pm with childcare from 7am- 9am and 4pm- 6pm.

Sports Camps

We offer sports camps for volleyball, soccer, and basketball. Players will be taught the basics of each sport while encompassing fun games and contests, catered towards the ability of each campers.

Adventure Camp

Adventure camp is the YMCA’s field trip based specialty camp program for kids entering 5th-8th graders. Campers will travel around Central Illinois three days each week seeking out the best adventures and experiences. On days they aren’t on field trips, your kids will have fun swimming, and exploring each theme at Kerasotes and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Kinder Camp

Kinder Camp is a new option for your campers entering Kindergarten. Kinder Camp is an introduction to our traditional day camp experience. Kids explore weekly themes, have dress-up days, attend a weekly field trip, and learn about the world around them. For added silliness, every Wednesday will be “Wild Wednesday,” where campers dress up in theme and join together for a camp-wide special event. Campers will swim Mondays-Thursdays with certified lifeguards and field trips are on Fridays.
